Welcome, friends! This is Making Maravillas, and I am the owner, Nia. It is so wonderful to meet you.
I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. I dabble in painting, traditional illustration, and digital art. I picked up crochet as well early February 2024. Once I started crocheting, something just clicked for me. I truly felt like I had found something that I loved. I love bringing something to life and I would really like to bring forward something unique for you all to enjoy with me. You’ll see a lot of my original digital art and crochet work from my shop.
The name and theme of Making Maravillas are very special to me and express what I want to represent. I want this to be a place that is exciting to explore, where you can linger for as long as you like! “Maravilla” is a Spanish word meaning marigold, wonder, or marvel. The small storefront theme exudes warmth, comfort, and wonder. I have a deep appreciation for bright, rich colors in nature, the cultural significance of marigolds, and the duality of the word. What’s better than feeling curiosity and wonder in a unique little shop? I wanted to demonstrate the coming together of cultures that I’ve experienced in my life as a Black-Latina, neurodivergent woman. I cherish many facets of all of these cultures I’m a part of, and I hope you enjoy the experience of these melding together.
Let’s make something wonderful together.
